PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived in Egypt where he will attend the third Intra-African Trade Fair which kicked off on the 9th and will run until the 15th in Cairo.
President Mnangagwa was received at the Cairo International Airport by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Egypt, Retired Air Marshal Shebba Shumbayawonda and officials from the Egyptian government.
The trade showcase which brings together businesses, is organized by the Afreximbank in collaboration with the African Union and the African Continental Free Trade Area.
A number of Zimbabwean companies are exhibiting at the showcase.
ZIMTRADE chief executive officer, Mr Allan Majuru said among the companies that are exhibiting in Egypt are youth and women-led entities.
“What we have done is we have come with several companies that are exhibiting under the Zimbabwean pavilion and we are hoping to get deals in excess of US$20 million but what is important are the back-to-back meetings that are going to happen for us to get leads for exports and also for us to learn international best practices so that we can foster Intra Africa trade. We also brought youth and women-led enterprises that we have been capacitating for them to now get into the actual desk making for us to grow our exports,” he said.
Mr Majuru added that there will be several business deals to be signed on the sidelines of the world trade showcase.
