Highlanders prepare for 2024 season

Story by Mthokozisi Dube

BULAWAYO giants Highlanders are fine-tuning their preparations ahead of the 2024 Premier Soccer League season which kicks off in two weeks.

The delay in the start of the 2024 PSL season has been a blessing in disguise for the Bulawayo giants who are hoping to utilise the window to work on some of the team’s shortcomings.

Highlanders head coach Kelvin Kaindu told ZBC News that they will mount a formidable challenge this season.

“I want to thank the executive for allowing me to come back to Highlanders for a second stint. Our preparations have been going on well. We want to complete a few things which we feel are some of our shortcomings, “he said.

The Zambian expatriate, who missed the league title on goal difference during his first stint as Highlander’s coach in 2013 also reflected on the fixtures which will see Bosso facing Dynamos on match day one.

He added, “Every team is in the PSL to compete. So, for us, we must keep working hard and see how we finish.”

Kaindu has inherited a team low on confidence after their monumental slump in the second half of last season in which they eventually settled for fifth position despite going on a 19-match unbeaten run.

Meanwhile, midfielders Divine Mhindirira and Godfrey Makaruse are back in the fold after a long spell on the sidelines due to injury.
