Electorate implored to defend the country’s independence

Story by Courage Bushe

THE ruling ZANU PF party took its campaign to Tongogara Business Centre in Shurugwi this Friday, where the Midlands Provincial leadership appealed to the people to always defend the country’s independence.

As multitudes turned up at Tongogara Business Centre in Shurugwi North for the campaign launch, ZANU PF Secretary for Security for Midlands Province, Cde Owen Ncube urged the ruling party supporters to go out in large numbers on voting day to ensure a landslide victory.

“This is the time we are supposed to be united and Campaign for our President, MP and councillors and ensure that we garner more than five million votes. We want to go and vote in peace. We know we will win but let’s work hard and ensure victory,” he said.

ZANU PF Midlands Provincial Vice Chairperson, Cde Edson Chiherenge weighed in urging the electorate to defend the gains of independence by voting for the ruling party.

“Consider where we are coming from as a party and where we are going. Our President is a man of Vision and is someone always willing to change livelihoods so let’s support him by voting for him and the party. We don’t want to sell our birthright to these sanctions beggars, they have brought nothing good but bad. Let us vote wisely and defend the revolution,” he said.

Shurugwi North constituency seat has never fallen into the opposition’s hands since independence and the ruling party is confident of retaining the seat in the upcoming general elections.
