Rwanda set to recruit more Zimbabwean teachers

Story by Ian Zvoma, News Editor

Rwanda is set to recruit more Zimbabwean teachers, with the focus shifting to science subjects.

This comes as the growing diplomatic relations between Zimbabwe and Rwanda are benefiting various sectors, including the education sub-division, with more than 150 Zimbabwean teachers already working in Rwanda.

Their impressive performance in setting up effective education structures which have improved the quality of education in Rwanda has seen demand soaring, with the Central African country set to recruit more teachers for Science subjects and English.

This was confirmed by Rwanda’s Minister of Education Dr Valentine Uwamariya on the sidelines of the just-ended Rwanda National Dialogue in Kigali.

Dr Uwamariya also confirmed that the recruitment is based on merit, given the high standards of education in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, recreational facilities have been identified as key to solving challenges affecting youths such as drug abuse and teen pregnancies.

The issue was debated during the second and final day of the Rwanda National Dialogue which ended in Kigali this Tuesday.

The event gave ordinary citizens an opportunity to engage the national leadership on their social and economic challenges.
