Govt issues stern warning to individuals who name drop for corrupt and personal reasons

Story by Patience Nyagato

THE Government has noted with concern the abuse of the Second republic’s participatory interactive platforms, which allow the contribution of all Zimbabweans in the development agenda.

The Second Republic introduced the participatory interactive platform, which allows the participation and contribution of all Zimbabwean in the development agenda through interactions sometimes with President Emerson Mnangagwa.

While this has yielded positive results in nation-building, the government has noted with concern individuals abusing their proximity to the President for personal gains.

“The first issue is to reflect on a new dispensation which is led by His Excellency the President, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, who has provided a platform that allows occasional interactive sessions with everyone in each and every district in our country and also which also allows many other political players to be able to interact with the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief and the Head of State and Government,” said the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere.

“In the majority of cases, what we have come to realize is that these meetings have been very productive, they have allowed young people, traditional leaders, business people and many other religious leaders and all Zimbabweans across the country, but to be able to interact with His Excellency the President openly, under the banner of transparency in terms of nation building was what is very key and important is for the Head of State to interact occasionally with many different social, political and economic groups and clusters so that we get to work together to build the nation.

“On rare occasions, we have also come to realize that some individuals have been in the mischief of magnifying their social, political and economic standing through abusing that occasional interactive platform that has been brought about by the new dispensation, which seeks to ensure that we leave no one and no place behind, which is also part of the reason of the government architecture, as we seek to ensure that each and every Zimbabwean participates in nation building, each and every view and opinion is valued as we journey towards an upper middle income society by the year 2030.

“Braggadocio and name dropping, those do not belong to the new dispensation, braggadocio is not part of the new dispensation, where individuals abuse that occasional interactive session to magnify their political and social and economic standing through corruption. So, as a government, we want to send a stern and serious warning to anyone who abuses that openness platform, which has contributed so much to the development of our country.”

The Government has put in place measures to deal decisively with these status seekers.

“As a government, we have prepared a legal framework and also directed state security and legal organizations. We have established a legal framework within the government of Zimbabwe to institute legal and criminal proceedings against these individuals who seek to abuse that benevolence by His Excellency the President to magnify and abuse that occasional interactive platform for corruption and mischief purposes.

“All that is on the negative side, and it does not belong to Zimbabwe. So we have come to nation building, and it does not contribute to the vision 2030.”

Meanwhile, it has been revealed by the government that some anarchists are abusing social media platforms in subversive activities that undermine the rule of law.
