Indonesia enhances diplomatic relations with Zimbabwe

ZIMBABWE and Indonesia are exploring new avenues of cooperation with the focus shifting to the mining and health sectors.

This Wednesday, the Indonesian Ambassador to Zimbabwe and Zambia, His Excellency Dewa Sastrawan took time to share his country’s goal on global economic diplomacy through a statement released by Indonesia Foreign Affairs Minister Ms Retno Marsudi.

Zimbabwe is among the countries that share bilateral relations with Indonesia, boasting of symbiotic relations in areas which include health and mining, among others.

“The priority of our foreign diplomacy is economic diplomacy. In Zimbabwe we looking at how our companies can have projects in Africa. Our pharmaceutical company which was visited by Vice President Chiwenga already has something on the ground.

“We also want to cooperate in the area of trade. We are already importing tobacco and now Zimbabwe was also asking us to supply cooking oil. In this economic diplomatic priority, we also want to work with Zimbabwe in mining among other things,” read the statement.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Dewa Sastrawan has been rewarded for his Outstanding Contribution to Diplomacy, Sustainable Development and Community Building by the Diplomat Magazine and Diplomacy of Appreciation Trust.
