Zimbabwe has been left in limbo after the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Normalisation Committee (NC) term ended on Sunday, with the world football governing body, FIFA, remaining mum.
The ZIFA NC’s term ended on the 30th of June after a year in office.
Since then, the world football governing body, FIFA, has remained silent, leaving the nation in limbo over their next move.
While a cross-section of the football community in Zimbabwe is evidently not happy with the conduct of the Lincoln Mutasa-led committee, a snap survey will quickly reveal that FIFA have extended the last three Normalisation Committees beyond the first term.
 The committee was tasked with running the daily affairs of ZIFA and to restructure its administration.
The NC was also tasked to review the ZIFA Statutes and Electoral Code to ensure compliance with the FIFA Statutes and requirements, and to ensure their adoption by the ZIFA Congress as well as act as an electoral committee to organise and conduct elections of a new ZIFA board based on the newly aligned ZIFA Statutes and Electoral Code.
While some work has been done with regard to restructuring the administration, issues of the constitution and elections have been a huge sticking point.
The way the NC has handled national team issues, especially the welfare, appointment of coaches and planning for matches has left a lot to be desired.
Whether the Lincoln Mutasa-led committee gets another term or not, only FIFA knows, as the nation waits with keen interest.
