Liberation war heroine Cde Zvidza laid to rest

LIBERATION war heroine Cde Sarah Zvidza who died on the 22nd of May has been buried at Chinhoyi Provincial Heroes Acre.

The late heroine who was 84, succumbed to anaemia.

Family spokesperson and daughter to the late heroine Mrs Joyce Lamont described her mother as a fountain of wisdom and a trailblazer.

“My mother was a trailblazer, a fountain of wealth, if you consult her she would impart wisdom,” Mrs Lamont said.

Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Mary Mliswa said the province has lost a community development champion who was passionate about women’s empowerment.

“Whilst working in government as a community development officer, she continued as a ZANU PF Activist, developing women, party, and bringing projects to women. In 1984 in the party, she worked with Mai Manyika, Mai Mutongerwa, the likes of the then Minister of Women Affairs Mai Mujuru and Cde Sally Mugabe,” noted Honourable Mliswa.

Cde Zvidza was active during the liberation struggle, assisting freedom fighters.

The late heroine is survived by six children, 39 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
