The 55th Plenary Assembly of the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) concluded with resounding success, marking a pivotal step towards regional integration and legislative efficacy.
The Assembly’s deliberations underscored the Forum’s unwavering commitment to advancing parliamentary diplomacy and fostering sustainable development across the SADC region.
The extensive discussions highlighted several critical issues, notably the transformation of the SADC PF into a fully-fledged Regional Parliament and the financial situation of the Forum.
The Assembly approved the continuation of missions which are led by the chairperson, Speaker of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, Honourable Advocate Jacob Mudenda.
The Assembly also lauded the proactive efforts of member Parliaments, including Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, for their dedication to advancing the transformation agenda over the past ten years.
Acknowledging promising media results, the Assembly also endorsed the nomination of media officers from national Parliaments to work within a structured media framework and budget, improving media campaigns on the activities of the SADC PF Standing Committees and its other organs.
In his closing remarks, the President of the SADC PF, Honourable Roger Mancienne, hailed the 55th Plenary Assembly as a remarkable success, highlighting the significant progress made towards transforming the SADC PF into the SADC Regional Parliament.
