Tsholotsho RDC CEO nabbed

Story by Peter Chivhima

THE Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Tsholotsho Rural District Chief Executive Officer, Nkululeko Sibanda and Financial Director, Brighton Malandule on allegations of corruption involving more than US$300 000.

The duo of Sibanda and Malandule was arrested this Thursday and are facing five counts of criminal abuse of office.

It is alleged that from 2019 to June this year, the two engaged in several projects for their own benefit, without obtaining an exemption from the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe, thereby prejudicing the Tsholotsho Rural District Council.

ZACC Spokesperson Commissioner Thandiwe Mlobane confirmed the duo’s arrest.

“We can confirm that ZACC arrested Sibanda and Malandule on allegations of criminal abuse of duty which resulted in unprocedural procurement. The duo is facing five counts of criminal abuse of office which involves US$300 000.”

Last month, the anti-graft body also arrested Nyaminyami Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer, Cletus Gwabva Matingwina on allegations of criminal abuse of office involving US$900 000.
