Fraudster hands self over to ZACC

Story by Peter Chivhima

A suspected accomplice in the Mbudzi Interchange fraud saga Levy Idana has handed himself over to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).

In a statement, ZACC says Idana, who allegedly defrauded the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development of US$200 000, has been charged with fraud.

Idana is accused of allegedly making a fraudulent compensation claim for a property that was affected by the construction of a multi-level interchange at the Mbudzi roundabout.

ZACC also alleges that Idana and the Deputy Director of Road Services Division in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Enerst Shenje, manufactured a fraudulent agreement of sale.

The two misrepresented to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development that Idana was the owner of a subdivision which was in the name of John Maloney.

The fraudulent agreement of sale was used to claim compensation on the pretext that Idana had purchased the property from Maloney.

It emerged that through the fraudulent claim, Idana was paid US$200 OOO.
