ZIMBABWE’s accounting fraternity is upbeat about the upcoming seventh SADC Industrialisation Week ahead of the regional grouping of Heads of States and Government’s 44th Summit will position the country as a safe destination for regional capital flows.
With the country set to host over 150 firms from the region during the SADC Industrialisation Week ahead of the regional grouping Heads State Summit in August, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Zimbabwe 2024 Winter School created a platform for the accountants to assess the impact of the events on the national economy.
The accountants are expecting benefits to be derived from the regional grouping’s Industrialisation Week and the Summit.
“It provides greater opportunities in terms of tapping into the region and positioning the country in terms of available opportunities. As accountants, we believe such an event will also enable the nation to attract regional projects,” said senior accountant, Mr Stanley Gwanzura.
“From a regional perspective, there are several accounting firms owned by Zimbabweans within the SADC region, and the fact that the conference is bring held here gives a further impetus to harness regional market forays,” said Hempac Holdings chairperson, Mrs Emilia Chisango.
“There are vast opportunities arising from the region and it is within such a perspective that the need to focus on long term benefits becomes a greater important factor in positioning the country as a viable business destination ,” said Mrs Charity Mtwazi, Deloitte Partner Audit and Assurance.
The regional events will be held when Zimbabwe is forging ahead with reforms to attract more investments and restore confidence as a safe haven for foreign capital flows.
