Tim Godfrey set to perform at controversial Kingdom World tour

Story by Patience Nyagato, Arts Reporter

Nigerian gospel singer Tim Godfrey has been added on the controversial world musical tour dubbed the ‘Kingdom world tour,’ featuring Grammy award winners, Maverick City music.

The Nigerian star famed for his song ‘Nara,’ featuring American gospel star, Travis Greene has been added to the line-up of artists set to perform at the show set for the Glamis Arena in Harare on the 12th of next month.

The show has been marred with controversy the past week after all the supporting acts from the country pulled out.

Zimbabwean gospel songstress Annatoria, South African-based gospel star Takesure Zamar, local outfit The Unveiled and Tembalami all announced on their social media platforms last week that they will not be performing at the show.

In their statements, they cited they can no longer perform due to unforeseen circumstances.

Social media debate associated the withdrawal of artists in Zimbabwe and other African countries to a performance by the Maverick City member Chandler Moore, Kirk Frankiln featuring Will Smith at the BET awards which was allegedly not in line with their christian values.

Maverick City is on a world tour with gospel star Kirk Franklin and will be performing in various countries in Africa and Asia.
