Zimbabwe is set to host the Southern African Youth Development Council Conference this Friday, where young people from the region are expected to harness innovative ideas and projects in diverse sectors.
The International Youth Connect and the Vision 2030 Movement jointly briefed the media in Harare this Tuesday, ahead of the Southern African Youth Development Council Conference.
The conference is scheduled to run from the 23rd to the 26th of this month, with resolutions expected to be submitted to the 44th SADC summit in August.
“The Zimbabwe government has graciously offered to host both the Southern Youth Development Council program and the 44th Summit of Heads of State and Government in 2024. Their commitment to fostering regional cooperation is unwavering and we want. It is a victory for the country and Youth to host it and the Heads of State summit,” said the Spokesperson of International Youth Connect and Vision 2030 Movement, Mr Tamuka Hove.
The Youth view the assumption of Zimbabwe as SADC Chair at the 44th Summit of Heads of State and Government as an opportunity to further enhance the youth dividend.
He added, “This unique platform encourages regional cooperation and youth development as we collectively strive to address challenges. We are confident that this initiative will not only generate impact impactful ideas but aspire delegates.”
The programme is looking at various sectors including smart governance, smart economics, ICT engineering, green energies and developing programmes, while harnessing the collective potential to drive sustainable and inclusive growth across the region.
