THE Pan-African Parliament (PAP) has been reinvigorated to promote stability in Africa for the continent to fully benefit from its resources through value addition.
The issue was the rallying point as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini, His Excellency Russell Dlamini unpacked the concept of Pan- Africanism at the PAP headquarters in Midrand, South Africa this Monday.
The third Ordinary Session of the sixth Pan-African Parliament continued in Midrand, South Africa this Monday, with the focus on the role of PAP in promoting Pan-Africanism to end multiple crises which have rocked the continent at the expense of sustainable development.
The Kingdom of Eswatini Prime Minister, His Excellency Russell Dlamini, who was the guest of honour, drew the continent’s attention to the issue of value addition for Africa to fully benefit from its resources.
Former PAP legislator Professor Mathole Motshekga of South Africa stressed importance of African humanism as the basis of peace and stability as the continent battles conflict in hotspots which include Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The presentations left the PAP convinced that it has a role to play in promoting Pan-Africanism.
The issue of promoting stability for economic development comes at a time when the African continent is bedeviled by a myriad of challenges, including conflict which has provided fertile ground for imperialists to milk the continent, leaving its people in abject poverty.
There are, however, sustained efforts in various African countries, including Zimbabwe, to promote sustainable development through value addition.
