Dynamos hunt for goals

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

DYNAMOS coach Hebert Maruwa is unfazed by his team’s lack of cutting edge despite the fact that the Harare giants have scored just one goal in open play this season.

The Harare giants are preparing to take on Bulawayo Chiefs at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

DeMbare are in third position on the log with eight points after two draws and two victories.

However, they are yet to really fire in front of goal having failed to find the back of the net in their last three matches, including one cup encounter.

In the five matches they have played so far, the Glamour Boys have only scored two goals in open play, that is at Barbourfields Stadium against Hwange on the opening day of the league and Emmanuel Paga’s goal against Sheasham on the second match day at National Sports Stadium.

Since then, the Hebert Maruwa-coached side has scored a penalty while the other two goals against Sheasham were own goals.

After that, they have had two goalless draws in the league and also failed to find the back of the net in the Uhuru Cup against Highlanders.

“I am not worried goals will come and it’s only a matter of time it’s a phase what we need is to keep on working hard and they will come,” noted Maruwa.

The former Black Rhinos coach also reserved special praise for his defensive unit.

“The defence has been wonderful and they have given us something to work on, we have been solid since pre-season. So we just need to work on the second and third phases of the game.”

The Harare giants will welcome Bulawayo Chiefs to the National Sports Stadium on Sunday, a side that is yet to taste victory in the Premier Soccer league this season.
