Story by Mercy Bofu

THE church has been called upon to support empowerment programmes being rolled out by the Second Republic to ensure improved livelihoods.

This Saturday saw ZANU PF National Leadership addressing various churches in Masvingo province where they called on members to support empowerment programmes being spearheaded by the Second Republic.

The party National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri was in Gutu where she addressed the African Apostolic Church congregants.

“The Second Republic under the leadership of President Emerson Mnangagwa is implementing several programmes and it is time you the church take advantage to empower yourselves. Let us work for our country,” she said.

National Political Commissar, Cde Mike Bimha also addressed Zion Apostolic Faith Andreas Shrine in Chivi and Zion Apostolic Church David Masuka in the Chikuku area of Bikita.

“Despite economic sanctions, our country continues to develop because of your prayers. Let us continue to pray for peace and maintain good relationships,” he said.

The Church leaders concurred that they are in full support of the current government led by President Emerson Mnangagwa.

The government will continue to ensure that churches benefit from all empowerment programmes.

“We have been working with the church hence we are going to ensure clean water and avail land to you for agriculture initiatives,” said Honorable Ezra Chadzamira, Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister.

The ZANU PF party and government recognise the importance of the church in nation-building.
