The operationalisation of the African Continental Free Trade Area has broadened Zimbabwe’s appetite to increase its export earnings in line with the objectives of the National Development Strategy One.
In this regard, the country’s export promotion body, ZimTrade, is expected to descend on the Ghanaian market with 20 local companies to explore export opportunities for agro-processed foods.
Twenty Zimbabwean companies are looking to use Ghana as a springboard to capture the West African Market and the ECOWAS economic bloc.
According to Zimtrade chief executive officer Mr Allan Majuru, Zimbabwean businesses will engage potential partners in Ghana and the West African market.
“This is our first sojourn to the Ghanaian market for a trade expo and we are looking to stitch deals worth more than 10 million United States dollars to expand our ever-increasing export base. This business forum is a big market as more than 200 private sector players in Ghana have confirmed attendance,” he said.
As part of efforts to continue setting economic footprints on the African continent, ZimTrade is also set to embark on a market survey mission in Nigeria.
