BATTLE lines have been drawn in the fourth edition of the Castle Challenge Cup, pitting champions FC Platinum and Chibuku champions Bulawayo Chiefs pencilled for Mandava Stadium this Saturday.
It is the student versus teacher affair in Saturday’s Castle Challenge Cup final as Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum face Bulawayo Chiefs, who his former assistant, Lizwe Svesve, coaches.
Of interest will be the sensational return of Sweswe and defender William Stima to face their former paymaster and Perfect Chikwende on the other side who have since rejoined Pure Platinum Play from the Twitter Boys.
Four days before the contest, Bulawayo Chiefs head coach Lizwe Sweswe is not losing sleep, promising to unleash a squad which will compete with the champions.
“We are very much ready for the game. We are not reading much on it being a student–teacher affair but what we want is to go and compete. Yes, we have been there, and we are familiar with the venue, but a lot of things have changed since our departure,” he said
Stima is also relishing the challenge hoping to leverage the depth in the squad.
“We have tried to rebuild the team and we hope that come Saturday, we will compete well. The coaches have been working so hard to find combinations but we hope the experience will be the difference,” he added.
A shrewd tactician, Sweswe has opted for his trusted lieutenants roping in Last Jesi and Danny Deco Phiri to steady the ship which experienced a player exodus following the short-lived Chibuku Super Cup honeymoon.
