IT was entertainment galore at Khulumani FM’s 5th anniversary celebrations in Bulawayo at the weekend.
Dance competitions from some of Bulawayo’s upcoming creatives dominated Khulumani FM’s birthday bash, which was celebrated through a roadshow at Bulawayo’s Nketa 7 shops.
For the multitude of Khulumani FM fans, their highlight of the roadshow was getting to meet and interact with their favourite personalities.
A fan of the radio station said, ‘‘I came all the way from Hope Fountain just to see Black D. I just love her voice.’’
Another fan noted, ‘‘You know I never miss any show on Khulumani FM and my dream was to meet these Personalities and today i finally met them and even took selfies with them.’’
Khulumani FM Executive Producer, Rachel Hwambo said the roadshow was more of a token of appreciation to the fans for their support and love since 2018.
Hwambo said, ‘‘We are a unique station. We are the only station here in Matabeleland Province that broadcast in 6 local languages. This show is sort of an appreciation show to our Khulumani FM loyal fans.’’
Head Montrose Studios, Dr Ompile Marupi said the successful hosting of the roadshow indicates the station’s growth and the important role being played by the station in giving minority languages a voice.
Dr Marupi noted, ‘‘Our station has really grown. It’s a unique station that broadcasts in over six local languages.’’
Some of the local languages that Khulumani FM broadcasts in include Suthu, Xhosa, Venda and Ndebele.
