A convict who escaped from Chikurubi Prison in November last year while serving a six-year jail term for armed robbery has been arrested for yet another armed robbery case.
Mirikai Pirikisi aged 38 was arrested in connection with an armed robbery case in Beitbridge where he and his accomplice shot an illegal money changer before robbing him of cash and a car.
The two were, however, unlucky after they were apprehended by the public and assaulted before the police arrived.
Pirikisi’s accomplice, died upon admission at hospital due to injuries he sustained from the assault.
Meanwhile, 28 complainants from Bulawayo were left counting their losses after they were duped of over ZWL5 million by a suspected fraudster.
According to the police, the accused communicated with one of the complainants and asked for Zimbabwean dollars in exchange for United States dollars.
It is alleged that the complainant approached 27 others so that they could raise the required amount, but after sending the money the accused cut communication with the complainants.
The suspect, who was alleged to be in Plumtree, is yet to be apprehended.
