A 16-year-old Founders High School student was this Monday stabbed to death by two fellow students from neighbouring Hamilton High School after a brawl.
The brawl between students from the neighbouring schools which resulted in the fatal stabbing of the Founders High School student occurred after the deceased confronted the accused on why he had assaulted his friend.
Confirming the tragic incident, Bulawayo Acting Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the deceased who was stabbed on the neck was pronounced dead upon admission at United Bulawayo Hospitals.
“Police in Bulawayo are investigating a murder case where two teenagers stabbed another teenager from Founders High School,” said Msebele.
Violence involving school children has been on the increase in Bulawayo hence calls for Parents to monitor their children.
“As police we are concerned about the increase of violence involving school children. It is unacceptable, as parents let’s monitor our children,” she added.
The tragic incident which resulted in the death of the Founders High School pupil comes on the backdrop of an increase in gang brawls at boys’ schools such as Hamilton, Milton and Gifford High Schools.
Most of the clashes are reportedly fuelled by the need to control territories in the city centre and the generational beliefs of enmity that are passed down to freshman by the seniors during orientation.
