Zim-Russia business forum lined up

Story by Davison Vandira, Business Reporter

Zimbabwe’s engagement and re-engagement drive continues to gather momentum as the country’s private sector is expected to host a Russian business delegation to enhance trade relations between the two countries in the areas of agricultural and mining mechanisation among other productive sectors of the economy.

The two countries’ business community is expected to take advantage of cordial relations that exist between Harare and Moscow to deepen their engagements in increasing industrial productivity through technology which has become part and parcel of the efficient production mix.

The country’s private sector led by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce has lined up a series of business-to-business meetings with their Russian counterparts expected to culminate in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding.

“We are excited as the private sector to be engaging our counterparts from Russia where we envisage coming up with meaningful business deals that will strengthen our various sectors for the benefit of our dear country. The engagements have been ongoing since the visit of HE to that nation,” Mr Mugaga said.

The country’s agrarian and industrial reform process is in need of modern technology commensurate with the targets of being an upper middle-income status by 2030 hence continuous engagement with powerhouses like Russia.

The business interactions between Zimbabwe and Russia started in 2019 when His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa visited the European nation in line with the second republic’s re-engagement agenda.
