THE Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) Workers Committee says the national broadcaster needs continuous support to effectively carry out its mandate.
ZBC’s operations came under parliamentary scrutiny this Thursday when the national broadcaster’s workers committee appeared before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Information, Media and Broadcasting in Harare this Thursday.
After making a presentation on the state of affairs at the national broadcaster including the welfare of employees, ZBC Workers Committee national chairperson, Engineer Maushe Mutetepi described the engagements as fruitful.
“The engagements were fruitful and we are hopeful all what we presented regards operational challenges and workers’ welfare shall be taken seriously,” he said.
The Portfolio Committee on Information, Media and Broadcasting promised to take the issues up with the relevant authorities.
Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee for Information, Media and Broadcasting, Honourable Sipho Mokone noted, “The committee will therefore look into all the issues for the benefit of relevant stakeholders.”
It was also agreed that there is need for continuous engagements on operational issues and the welfare of employees.
