THE Turkish Embassy in Zimbabwe has handed over wheelchairs to People with Disabilities in Marondera to improve their welfare.
They received the wheelchairs from the Turkish Embassy working in partnership with the Islamic Information Bureau.
The community said the cost of wheelchairs and crutches is beyond the reach of many and most rely on the donor community.
“We are very excited about this development which has helped us to get wheelchairs for free. Wheelchairs are very expensive for us so we rely on the donor community for support,” said a beneficiary.
The Turkish Embassy pledged to continue working with the government to improve the welfare of people with disability.
“We are going to work with the Government of Zimbabwe to ensure we improve the welfare of our people especially the disabled,” said Mr Abdurahman Taha Cinar -Turkish Embassy representative.
The beneficiaries were drawn from Marondera town and surrounding farms.
