PREMIER Soccer League side, Bulawayo Chiefs remain positive despite a player exodus that has rocked the club with fellow PSL sides circling over the financially troubled club.
The 2022 Chibuku Super Cup champions made headlines at the beginning of last season when they splashed cash bringing in experienced players like Perfect Chikwende and Kelvin Madzongwe among others.
The club ended up paying the prize for the expansive recruitment as they failed to honor their monthly dues leading to a player exodus during the off-season.
The club has already lost Ghanaians Dela Arkoli and Wilson Mensah who have returned home, while the Moyo twins Elvis and Kelvin have signed for Dynamos.
Star forward Perfect Chikwende and Captain Malvin Mkolo are also reported to be on their way out.
Hugh Chikosi has signed for Simba Bhora while Arthur Musiyiwa is apparently training with Dynamos.
Despite being rocked by challenges the club remains hopeful.
“We are busy preparing for the 2023 season and we remain hopeful that we are going to have a good season. We have challenges and out of those challenges we will grow, we are still a young club and we are learning but we will get better,” said Thulani ‘Javas’ Sibanda, Bulawayo Chiefs Spokesperson.
The team is set to take on FC Platinum in the season-opening Castle Challenge cup next month.
