Senior citizens in Zvishavane and those at the Jairos Jiri Centre in the town have commended strides being made by the ruling party leadership in poverty alleviation in various communities.
Jairos Jiri Zvishavane board chairperson, Mr Lawrence Hlabano commended the gesture noting it came at the right time when the organisation was faced with challenges.
Mr Hlabano said, “I want to thank honourable for the kind gesture because as you know the association is a non-profit making organisation meaning that we don’t have other avenues to get money. So, this donation will go a long way in improving the quality of living here.”
Midlands Provincial Member of Parliament for Proportional representation, Honourable Colleta Mutambisi, who led in the mobilisation of the goods, said the government is leaving no one and no place behind in terms of development and poverty alleviation.
Honourable Mutambisi said, “Our President always says ‘nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’, that’s why we are here. We want to show love to the senior citizens and make them feel important. They are the integral generation of the society and they resemble unity and peace to use hence the need for us to do well cater for them.”
Senior citizens from around Zvishavane town went home with clothes and food hampers prepared for them by the ZANU PF leadership.
