The local pageantry industry bloomed in 2022, with a number of beauty queens raising the country’s flag high at various international contests, while a new national pageant was birthed.
The year 2022 witnessed the rebirth of pageantry in the country after the Miss Zimbabwe Queen contest was successfully held more than four years after the then Miss Zimbabwe pageant.
Charlotte Muziri was crowned queen, while other three contestants were nominated to represent the country at various international events including the Miss World and Miss Earth contests.
The crowned queens are expected to represent the country next year, more than four years after the country’s last appearance at Miss World.
The country’s presence at various international events soared this year with a number of Zimbabwean beauty queens doing well on various platforms.
One of them is 28-year-old Sindiso Ndlovu who won the coveted crown at the regional Miss Africa golden held in Nigeria early this year.
Ndlovu battled it out with 18 beauties from across the continent and walked away with a car and a huge purse.
Another stunning beauty, 21-year-old Jemima Mandemwa also raised the country’s flag high at the Miss Environment International Pageant.
She finished fourth at the international contest held in India earlier this year.
16-year-old Alicia Thomas also represented the country at the Miss Teen Universe held in Miami last month.
Thomas made it into the top six of the international pageant after battling it out with more than 20 queens from across the globe.
The impressive number of Zimbabwean beauties shining on the international stage signals the growth of the sector in the country.
