AS the National Railways of Zimbabwe explores more partnerships, the parastatal has agreed with Botswana Railways to enhance efficiency in the transportation of cargo on either side of the border.
The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) and the Botswana Railways (BR) recently signed an agreement that is set to improve the efficiency of services provided by the two railway giants.
Signed in Francistown, Botswana, the cooperation agreement will allow locomotives from both companies to cross borders and deliver goods to Francistown and Bulawayo.
“The agreement seeks to establish a borderless situation whereby NRZ trains are allowed to pass through the border to Francistown, while Botswana Railways also come to Bulawayo with cargo. We expect to enter into more of such agreements across the SADC region,” said Andrew Kunambura, NRZ Spokesperson.
The agreement is also set to pave way for a seamless and borderless operation between the two railway giants.
