A suspected armed robber linked to the US$580 000 cash heist at a fuel service station in Kwekwe last month has been arrested.
The suspect, Mathias Mushure was arrested on the 2nd of this month after police received a tip off to the effect that he was hiding at a certain house in Bulawayo’s Lobengula suburb.
According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police this Friday, police officers acted on information from a whistleblower to track the suspect to his hiding place.
US$2 000 has since been recovered from the suspect’s niece, while a motor vehicle suspected to have been bought from the proceeds of the crime has also been recovered.
According to the police statement, Mushure confessed that he received US$7500 from the loot as his share.
