A 26-year-old Harare woman has been arraigned before the courts on theft of motor vehicle charges.
A daring suspected thief, Nadine Tsitsi Zata is alleged to have been in the habit of hiring cars from car rentals before fraudulently changing ownership of the cars.
Allegations are that she would then sell them to unsuspecting buyers.
The court heard that Zata used the same modus operandi to steal from several car rentals in Harare where she would pretend to be a genuine customer and hire a vehicle for use.
It is alleged that she would then fraudulently get a new registration book for the hired vehicle and sell it.
Zata was arrested after one of the cars was tracked to one of her buyers who informed the police she had sold him the vehicle.
She was remanded in custody and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
