THE government is seized with the construction of the Gwanda court complex that will house the magistrate and high courts.
It is no longer business as usual at the Gwanda court construction site, as workers at this massive infrastructure are working day and night to complete the project.
“This structure is going to assist us with space and in turn create an environment where cases are expedited because everything will be done at the same building,” said Provincial Magistrate, Charity Maphosa.
“I can tell you that all the civil works have been done, what we need is funding so that we fill in all the trenches before the rains come,” said Public Works Director, Engineer Sijabuliso Ncube.
Minister of State for Matebeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Abednico Ncube, said, “As the province, we are so happy that the construction of this court has resumed well and works are going on well. It is going to help in combating crime, cases will be solved expeditiously.”
The Minister of State for Presidential Affairs and Monitoring Implementation of Government Programmes, Dr Jorum Gumbo who was on an assessment tour at the multi-purpose building construction site this Wednesday promised to engage the treasury to release funds for the completion of the critical infrastructure.
“I am happy with the progress I am seeing here and it is important to the people of Matabeleland South. I am going to engage treasury so that the funding of this project is done on time so that we complete this project. This is going to help the people of this region,” he said.
The government has contracted a renowned Chinese company, Hua Long, to complete the project which had stalled for more than 15 years.
