A massive shakeup is looming at Highlanders amid revelations that the Bulawayo giants are set to part ways with at least 10 players after a below-par season.
Having been in charge of Highlanders for the second half of the 2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, Coach Baltemer Brito is set to ring changes in the squad by bringing in new faces that will help the club challenge for honours next season.
With Highlanders having gone for 16 years without winning the league title, questions are now being asked on what needs to be done for Bosso to challenge for honours after getting a reliable partner in Sakunda Holdings.
Midfielder Bukhosi Sibanda will be partying ways with the club as his contract expires at the end of this month.
More players are expected to follow suit, although Highlanders Media Officer, Nozibelo Maphosa could not reveal much.
“It is true that Bukhosi will not be part of our squad next year. He decided not to renew it but in the same vein the club has promoted Bosso 90 captain Gillian Nyathi, a midfielder to the first team,” said Highlanders Media Officer, Nozibelo Maphosa.
A firm believer in young talent, Brito is expected to get rid of most of the senior players and promote youngsters from the club’s junior development side, Bosso 90, whose captain Gillian Nyathi has since been elevated to the senior team.
