Members of the popular music outfit, Mateo and Friends are back together after disbanding the group over a decade ago.
The group is set to stage a concert in Harare this Friday.
The Pamuhacha hitmakers – Willom Tight, Matthew Kaunda and Patience Musa – whose group, Mateo and Fiends disbanded more than a decade ago, have reunited and are scheduled to perform together this Friday after they disbanded.
Musa said, “It has been over 20 years since Mateo and Friends performed together. So, when Daves Gusha was able to speak to us individually we were able to come together and we realised that it would be nice to do something together. We had a good run and the music still lives within us. We are considering recording again.”
The group is known for its Asambe Africa project that made waves on the local music scene in the early 2000s.
Their performance this Friday signals the return of a once-revered Afro-soul group that churned out a number of hit songs.
