THE Government says it prioritises the provision of decent housing for teachers in the country to improve their welfare.

The Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities who is also ZANU PF Mashonaland East Chairman, Honorable Daniel Garwe committed to providing teachers with houses at the launch of the Mash East Teachers for ED chapter in Marondera this Saturday.

“As the government, we have our target to provide houses so teachers will be provided with houses in all the remote areas,” he said.

ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans, Douglas Mahiya who graced the launch thanked the teachers clearing the misconception that teachers do not support ZANU PF.

“Thank you very much teachers for coming on board let’s work together,” he added.

Anatoria Ncube the Provincial Education Director for Mashonaland East called for the empowerment of teachers.

“Let us do away with the colonial legacy which prohibited empowerment of teachers and give them contracts,” she said.

The ZANU PF leadership handed over a vehicle to the organisation.
