Budding Zimbabwean tennis players shine

ZIMBABWEAN pair of Milosavljevic Marko and Thompson Tom are through to the semi-finals of the men’s doubles at the International Tennis Festival (ITF) J5 tournament which is underway in Bulawayo.

Marko and Tom got past Mandisi Moyo and Makanaka Whata in an all-Zimbabwean quarter-final affair 6-0, 6-2 to book a place in the semi-finals of the male doubles.

In another quarter-final contest, Rona Mutisi and Dubin Valdermer did not disappoint after defeating the pair of South Africa’s Dusselberg Rudger and Alexander Hristov 4-6, 6-4.

In the first round of the singles, Marko and Thompson had eased past Austria’s pair of Behrmann Thio and Hermetzberger Jan through a  6-2,7-5 score line, while Mandisi Moyo and Makanaka Whata had progressed courtesy of a win over the pair of Zimbabwean, Simbarashe Chimedza and Madagascar’s Ranaivo Hasina.

The other semi-finalists are South Africa’s pair of Doing Connor and Townes Joseph, as well as Scott Benjamin and Western Cuan, also from South A.
