THE Atlas Lions of Morocco face a defining moment when they clash against Canada at the 2022 FIFA World Cup this Thursday evening with a place in the round of 16 at stake.

Two teams from Group F will progress to the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar this evening.

From an African perspective, all eyes will be on Morocco, who need at least a draw against Canada to join fellow African representatives, Senegal in the knockout stage.

With four points from two matches, a win will give the Moroccans a chance of topping the group depending on the outcome of the other group F match between 2018 runners-up Croatia and semi-finalists, Belgium.

The two matches kick off at 5 pm.

FIFA World Cup action continues at 9 pm as Japan face off with Spain, while Costa Rica has a date with Germany in Group E.

Meanwhile, Tunisia became the first African team to be eliminated from the tournament despite a One-nil win over defending champions, France.

Australia qualified as runners-up behind France in Group B after edging Denmark by a goal to nil.

In Group D, Argentina claimed the top spot with a two-nil win over Poland, who progressed as runners-up on goal difference.

In the same group, Mexico missed out on a place in the last 16, as their 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia was not enough for them to overtake Poland on goal difference.
