THE draw for the 2023 Netball World Cup set for South Africa was conducted this Wednesday with Zimbabwe being drawn in the same group as the world’s highest-ranked team, Australia.
The draw conducted in Port Elizabeth, South Africa this Wednesday saw Zimbabwe who are ranked 13th in the world drawn in Pool A, alongside the top-ranked team Australia, Tonga who are ranked eighth and Fiji who are just two places below the Gems
The Gems, who finished fourth at the Diamond Challenge in South Africa, a few days ago, will be making their second appearance at the World Cup, having finished 8th at the 2019 edition in Liverpool, England.
Group B features England, Malawi, Scotland and Barbados, while hosts, South Africa were drawn against Jamaica, Wales and Sri Lanka in Group C.
Group D is made up of defending champions, New Zealand, Uganda, Singapore as well as Trinidad & Tobago.
The global netball showpiece will run from the 28th of July to the 6th of August next year.
