Seven ZPCS senior officers promoted

By Peter Chivhima

THE President and Commander in Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has promoted four Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Commissioners and three Assistant Commissioners.

The newly-promoted officers are Commissioners Somemore Gate, Cleopas Moyo, Sikhulelike Ndlovu and Netsai Hlabano, who were promoted from the ranks of Assistant Commissioner to full Commissioners, while Assistant Commissioners Mavis Mubvumbi, Paul Chigawani, Dr Memory Makuchete were elevated from the rank of Chief Superintendent to the ranks of Assistant Commissioners.

Conferring badges of ranks to the newly promoted senior officers in Harare this Monday, ZPCS Commissioner General Moses Chihobvu implored the officers to uphold team work and contribute towards the achievement of the national vision.

“I am therefore counting on you as you join this new level of management. Identify local resources at your disposal, take and and utilise them in transforming situations for the better. Remember the ZPCS has all what it takes including the abundance of other key factors of production such as a labour and land to mention just but a few. I therefore see no reason why the ZPCS brand should not be a force to reckon with when it comes to self-sustenance in food production and revenue generation. This will certainly aid in enhancing the country’s food security thereby helping in making Zimbabwe become the bread basket of the region,” he said.

The newly-promoted officers applauded President Mnangagwa and the ZPCS command element for bestowing trust on them.

“We are very grateful to His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa for trusting us by approving for our appointments. We understand that promotions come with a lot of responsibilities so we promise to work hard for the good of our nation,” said Commissioner Netsai Hlabano.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is on record calling for the ZPCS to play a leading role in the country’s quest for an improved quality of life of all people and transform ZPCS farms towards productivity.
