THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has widened the search for the suspect responsible for impregnating the nine-year-old girl from Tsholotsho who recently gave birth at United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH).
This comes after the girl’s father and four other suspects were cleared by DNA results.
With the nine-year-old girl’s father and four other close relatives having been removed from the suspect list, police are now on a manhunt for the person responsible for sexually abusing the underage girl.
“The DNA results cleared all suspects including the father and police are now widening the search for the perpetrator by targeting all men who interacted with the minor,” said ZRP National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
Police are appealing for information from the public for the perpetrator to be brought to book.
“We are appealing for cooperation from members of the public so that the perpetrator can be brought to book,” he said.
The mystery surrounding the case of the Tsholotsho girl is not an isolated case, as an eight-year-old girl from Bindura is also pregnant and admitted at the Bindura Provincial Hospital.
