AFRICAN side Tunisia picked up a valuable point in their 2022 FIFA World Cup Group D opener after a nil-all draw with Denmark in Qatar.
This came on a day when Saudi Arabia stunned pre-tournament favourites Argentina with a two-one victory.
Tunisia picked up a deserved point after they restricted the Danes to a few scrappy chances in a closely contested tie this Tuesday.
The North Africans created the better chances in the first-half and Denmark had goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to thank after an Issam Jebali attempt.
The Danes improved after the break and had a goal disallowed for offside before Andreas Cornelius somehow failed to find the back of the net when it was easier to score than miss after he headed against the post just a metre away from the goal line.
The breakthrough never came and the two teams settled for a share of the spoils.
Tunisia will face Australia in their next game while Denmark takes on defending champions France.
Earlier on, in a Group C encounter, Saudi Arabia stunned a star-studded Argentina 2-1 to condemn one of the pre-tournament favourites to a shock defeat.
The Albiceleste, unbeaten in 36 matches over the past three years, went ahead with a 10th-minute penalty from Captain Lionel Messi, looking to cap a wonderful career by winning the tournament at the fifth attempt.
However, the South Americans failed to build on the early lead and they were made to pay in the second half as Saudi Arabia levelled and then went in front in a space of five sensational minutes.
The action of the day concludes with defending champions, France playing Australia at 9 pm.
