GOODNESS and Mercy Ministries founder, Tapiwa Freddy’s rape case is far from over after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) petitioned the High Court for an appeal.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) this Monday filed an application for condonation against Freddy’s acquittal in a case he is accused of raping a Harare woman on several occasions.
While according to the law, the NPA was supposed to file an appeal within 30 days, the Prosecutor General has indicated that his office was overwhelmed by the State’s business.
Freddy was acquitted by Harare Regional magistrate Mrs Gloria Takundwa early this year on two counts of rape and another charge of physical abuse.
However, the latest move by the National Prosecuting Authority if granted by the High Court will mean Tapiwa Freddy will either be tried afresh by the same court or by the High Court on the same charges.
