OVER 30 students from various schools across the city of Bulawayo were recently busted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Khumalo suburb at a vuzu party following a tip-off by the public.
The 39 teenagers comprising of 21 girls and 18 boys were arrested this Friday after police raided the Khumalo house where the vuzu party was held.
According to the police, some of the things recovered at the scene of the party include alcohol, cigarettes, used and unused condoms.
“Police in Bulawayo have arrested 39 students ranging from the ages of 15 to 19 years at a house in Khumalo Surburb. There were 21 girls and 18 boys. These students who were having a vuzu party are drawn from schools like Herentals College, Montrose girls high, Hamilton, Milton,” said Bulawayo Acting Provincial Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.
With the festive season fast approaching, police urged parents to keep an eye on their children in order to control the increase of such cases.
Teenagers in Bulawayo are known to organise Vuzu parties, which are drug and alcohol-fuelled parties, on the first weekend at the close of the school term and the last weekend before a new term.
