FORMER Chitungwiza chamber secretary Priscilla Vengesai has been sentenced for 15 months imprisonment after being found guilty of attempting to bribe the then high Court Judge Justice Felicia Chatukuta.
It was the State’s case that in 2014 Vengesai approached Justice Chatukuta and indicated that she was a friend to Avondale Holdings Private Limited and had been sent to convey a token of appreciation to Chatukuta.
According to the court, Vengesai pulled an envelope with an undisclosed amount of money as an incentive to sweep their case which was before the High Court, under the carpet.
The court further heard that Chatukuta showed displeasure about Vengesai’s conduct and started to record the conversation using her mobile phone.
Chatukuta then made a Police report leading to Vengesai’s arrest.
In his ruling Harare Regional Magistrate Mr Hosea Mujaya slapped Vengesai with a 2-year-jail sentence before 9 months were set aside for 5 years on condition of good behavior.
