A Glenlorne family in Harare has lost US$62 000 cash to armed robbers who pounced on the family home in broad daylight on Wednesday.
The three daring armed robbers allegedly followed the woman into her home and produced an unidentified pistol which they used to threaten her before getting away with the cash.
No arrests have been made.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the armed robbery case and said investigations are still underway.
“We are still conducting investigations and we continue to urge people not to keep large sums of money at home. This makes them easy targets for robberies. People should bank their money to curtail such incidences,” he said.
In recent times, robberies of this nature have been on the increase, with investigations into most of the cases revealing that the targeted attacks will be a result of tip-offs from close relatives or employees.
