by Jerold Sasa

The trial of the Macheke couple accused of sexually abusing their two children kicked off in Marondera this Wednesday, with the parents denying the charges.

The couple, who appeared in court at different times had to take turns looking after their other child in the courtyard.

First to appear in court was the mother who is facing allegations of aggravated indecent assault after she sexually molested her 12-year-old son.

The woman, through her defence counsel, is denying the charges claiming she is being framed.

The boy who appeared on camera is, however, insisting that he was sexually abused by his mother at their family homestead in Macheke.

The father, who is accused of raping his 8-year-old daughter, is also denying the charges.

The daughter, who also appeared on camera, narrated how she was raped by her father on different occasions in Macheke and how she revealed her ordeal to her aunt in Mutoko after she saw her limping.

The court had to take a break after the girl broke down while giving evidence.

When she regained composure she revealed that she was also raped by three other family members, including her 12-year-old brother.

The trial is expected to continue on the 16th of this month.
