MATCH day 33 of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League provided some interesting thrills and spills especially for teams involved in the relegation matrix, with the four teams’ going down almost determined.
Action began on Friday as Yadah FC drew nil-all with a visiting second-placed Chicken Inn at the National Sports Stadium.
A day later, all eyes were on the battle pitting Bulawayo City and Harare City at Barbourfields Stadium.
Harare City got their game plan correctly to dismiss the Bulawayo side 2-1.
The Sunshine Boys, who can take their tally to 35 points if they win their last home match, thought they had done themselves a huge favour only to be let down by Highlanders who allowed equally threatened side ZPC Kariba to collect a valuable point, condemning the Sunshine Boys to the unfashionable Division One football with their home tie to Highlanders remaining.
Bulawayo City were caught off guard as they were in the hunt for three points to widen their chances but alas, the Sunshine Boys were in a no-nonsense mood.
Harare City, Whawha and Tenax have been relegated, while Bulawayo City is all but gone as they need to win their last match by more than 10 goals and hope ZPC Kariba fail to collect a point.
Harare giants, Caps United forced a 2-all draw against Bulawayo Chiefs at the National Sports Stadium when it looked like they were going to lose the match.
Craneborne Bullets and Tenax played to a goal in less than 90 minutes.
Having promised their multitude of fans a sweet end-of-the-season home campaign, Highlanders failed to live up to the promise after ZPC Kariba snatched a one-all draw to assert their dominance in Bulawayo.
Elsewhere, Dynamos were also stunned 1-nil by Herentals, who are using their matches to launch a perfect Chibuku finale hunt.
Champions, FC Platinum drew 1-all with Triangle, in a match they played without one of their key players, Brian Banda.
Banda missed the match while a man of the moment, Walter Musona was on the score sheet before Tadiwanashe Musukuta equalised for the Sugar Boys.
Manica Diamonds shared spoils with Ngezi platinum in a goalless draw.
