By Peter Chivhima

THREE suspected land barons who were arrested this Wednesday on allegations of duping unsuspecting home seekers in Harare are expected to appear in court this Friday.

Nomatter Chasakara, Taurai Kambaso and Prosper Madziva were arrested this Wednesday on allegations of duping unsuspecting home seekers in Harare’s Mufakose suburb.

The victims in Mufakose Extension Phase 2 in Harare whose houses were demolished on Tuesday are shuttered.

Contacted for comment, Harare City Council Spokesperson Mr Innocent Ruwende said the people had illegally settled in the area.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of the trio.

“We can confirm that there are three suspects who were arrested yesterday on allegations of parcelling out land in Mufakose. We are investigating the case after it emerged the suspects are claiming that the land is above board. As Police, we are urging the public to make due diligence when they are purchasing residential stands,” he said.

The suspects are detained at Marimba Police Station awaiting their court appearence.
