A documentary on arguably Zimbabwe’s most infamous serial killer, Bright Zhantali premieres this Wednesday, November 3 on ZBC News 24 and ZBC TV at 9 pm.
The ZBC Current Affairs documentary chronicles how the straight ‘A’ student who turned a serial killer allegedly targeted, raped and murdered 24 women around the country.
Dubbed the ‘Marondera Killer’ despite his first known murder near Lake Chivero, Zhantali is facing 24 counts of rape and murder.
To execute his first kill, the notorious killer paused as a ranger and lured a woman who wanted to buy fish.
He allegedly strangled her before burning her body.
Zhantali returned to the lake for another hunt, but was arrested before being released on bail.
It was while he was on bail that the real bloodbath began.
Zhantali has already confessed to some of his heinous crimes and even hinted that his victims could be more.
The serial killer was later nabbed in Harare in March this year and has confessed to the majority of the 24 counts of murder that he is facing.
Zhantali, who has relegated the country’s two notorious criminals Edmund Masendeke and Stephen Chidhumo to mere amateurs, is yet to appear in court for a full trial.
