A Macheke couple has been arrested for allegedly raping their two minor children aged eight and 11 years old.
The matter came to light when the minors were caught simulating a sexual act by their uncle whom they were visiting in Mutoko.
The couple, which resides at Howgate Farm and has since been arrested, will appear in court this Wednesday for the commencement of trial in which they are charged with rape.
It is the State’s case that the children’s mother allegedly found her 41-year-old husband raping his 8-year-old daughter in their bedroom, but did not report the matter.
The mother went on to rape her 11-year-old son, with one of the incidents allegedly happening back in 2021 when she reportedly lured the child into her matrimonial bedroom before forcing herself on him.
The matters came to light when the children’s uncle, whom they had visited in Mutoko, found them during the act, and upon being quizzed, they revealed how they had previously been raped by their parents.
The children have since been taken into the custody of the Department of Social Welfare pending the finalisation of the case.
